Job Description
Petersburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the full time position of Maintenance Mechanic I. This position is primarily responsible for performing difficult, skilled work in the general maintenance, repair, and modification of Authority owned buildings and related equipment and appliances. Those duties are performed in compliance and accordance of the standards established in HUD's Assessment Systems. Other essential duties of the position include grounds maintenance, processing of work orders, on-call emergency maintenance and professional resident relations. High school diploma or equivalent education preferred. Job requires journeyman level skills in plumbing, electrical, or carpentry trades with three (3) to five (5) years of practical work experience in the position of Maintenance Mechanic I or similar experience. Qualified candidates must demonstrate and/or exhibit problem-solving capabilities, mechanical inclination, mathematics, interpersonal, oral, and written communications. This position requires a valid Virginia driver's license, clean DMV driving record and successful completion of criminal background check and pre-employment drug test.
