The Building Maintenance Worker, Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and maintaining the interior and exterior surfaces of university buildings, ensuring a clean, safe, and attractive campus environment. The position supports university operations by performing skilled painting, surface preparation, minor drywall, and carpentry repairs. Responsibilities Prepare surfaces by cleaning, patching, sanding, and priming walls, ceilings, woodwork, and other surfaces. Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Maintain and repair painted surfaces, including touch-ups and full repaints. Assist with minor drywall repair, plastering, and surface texturing. Select appropriate materials and match paint colors to existing finishes. Maintain painting equipment and ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials. Perform inspections and recommend preventative maintenance or painting needs for campus facilities. Collaborate with other maintenance staff on projects that require painting, minor carpentry, or surface restoration. Set up scaffolding, ladders, and other equipment safely to complete jobs at various heights. Follow all university safety protocols and OSHA regulations during work activities. Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and time spent on projects. Education High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of experience in painting or general building maintenance, preferably in a commercial, educational, or institutional setting. Must be able to lift 15 pounds. Application Process Candidates are required to submit their resume, four professional references and a cover letter.
