Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician/Handyman to assist with the upkeep and maintenance of a residential apartment community in Winchester, VA. The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of apartment maintenance, be self-motivated, and capable of handling a variety of repair and maintenance tasks with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Complete routine maintenance and repair requests in occupied and vacant units Perform basic plumbing repairs, including leaks, fixture replacements, and drain issues Conduct basic electrical work such as replacing outlets, switches, light fixtures, and troubleshooting minor issues Repair drywall, patch holes, paint, and perform touch-up work Install and repair doors, locks, cabinets, shelving, and hardware Assist with appliance troubleshooting and minor repairs Perform preventive maintenance inspections Maintain common areas, grounds, and exterior property appearance Identify and report safety hazards and major repair needs Prepare vacant units for new residents, including punch-list completion Coordinate with management regarding maintenance priorities and completed work Assist with emergency maintenance calls as needed Qualifications Previous handyman, maintenance, construction, or apartment maintenance experience preferred General knowledge of: Plumbing Electrical Drywall repair Painting Carpentry Appliance maintenance General building repairs Ability to use hand and power tools safely Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to work independently and manage time effectively HVAC certification is a plus but not required Preferred Experience Apartment maintenance Property management maintenance Construction or remodeling Residential repair work Turnover and make-ready experience Benefits Flexible schedule options available Opportunity for growth within the company Please describe your experience with plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, appliance repair, and apartment turnover work.
