Zoo Maintenance Worker Milwaukee County Zoo Hourly Pay Range:
$24.00 - $26.00

Job Summary:
Responsible for maintaining and repairing the buildings, equipment, and grounds of the zoo. Will need to perform in a wide range of maintenance tasks, including basic repairs, preventative maintenance, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. They will also have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Essential Responsibilities:
Repair and Maintenance:
To repair and maintain Zoo structures, equipment, enclosures, to change lights, belts, and filters, to clean, grease, and lubricate, repair walls, doors, locks, windows, and screens, to do minor electrical and plumbing repairs, to monitor HVAC equipment, to maintain records.
Fabrication:
To fabricate, design and build crates, cages, fencing, to alter function of equipment, to construct shelving, carts, furniture. props, and much more.
Restoration:
To restore parts of the Zoo using skills such as Carpentry, painting, roofing, drywall and much more.
Computer tasks/Work orders:
To send out and check Emails, work orders, and using our LMS for trainings.
Other:
To assist with animal moves, to assist skilled trades, and other jobs and duties that maybe assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Current resident of Wisconsin. Possession of a Wisconsin Driver's License, able to be maintained throughout employment. Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. At least one (1) year of work experience in the building trades or as a facilities or maintenance worker. Able to lift/carry up to 50lbs and push/pull up to 100lbs. Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and shift rotations.

NOTE:
This original application is open to permanent residents of the state of Wisconsin at the time of application. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
