In a remote community like Nome, reliable automotive service isn't a convenience, it's essential. Our customers depend on us to keep their vehicles safe and on the road. The work we do has a direct impact on our community every single day, and we're looking for a leader who takes pride in that responsibility. We are seeking an experienced Manager / Shop Foreman to oversee the daily operations of our busy, full-service automotive repair shop in Nome, Alaska. This is a hands-on leadership role with a high degree of autonomy . You'll be empowered to make day-to-day operational decisions, lead the team, improve processes, and help shape the future of the business.
Responsibilities:
Manage all day-to-day shop operations Lead and support technicians while maintaining productivity and quality Assist with service advising and customer communication Perform advanced diagnostics and assist technicians with complex repairs Help in the shop as needed Foster a positive, professional culture built on teamwork, accountability, and customer care Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, customer experience, and shop performance
Qualifications:
Advanced diagnostic skills are mandatory. The successful candidate must be able to accurately diagnose complex drivability, electrical, and mechanical issues while mentoring technicians through challenging repairs. Extensive automotive repair industry experience Previous experience as a Service Manager, Shop Foreman, or Lead Service Advisor Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills A self-starter who is comfortable making decisions and leading independently Experience with shop management software (Tekmetric experience is a plus) Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
