Job Description

Facility Worker II (Substation O&M Department) PowerSouth Energy Cooperative , headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members - 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. PowerSouth's member systems provide power to end-use consumers across 51 counties in Alabama and 10 counties in Florida. PowerSouth's most important asset is a workforce of more than 560 men and women at nine PowerSouth locations. JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The purpose of this position is to provide miscellaneous maintenance and repair activities at transmission, substation, telecommunication, and generation sites and facilities and to provide assistance to PowerSouth maintenance and construction crews. The incumbent must possess a valid driver's license. The incumbent must be capable of performing laborious duties, operating motorized vehicles and equipment and providing assistance to other substation and transmission personnel. The incumbent must be able to obtain CDL within eighteen (18) months (must be 21 to obtain CDL).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs and assists others with performing maintenance, construction, and repair of transmission, substation, telecommunication, and generation equipment and facilities. Operates heavy equipment such as tractors, backhoes, and front-end loaders in making repairs to transmission, substation, telecommunication, and generation facilities, including being able to transport equipment to the job site. Performs groundskeeping maintenance and repair duties for transmission, substation, telecommunication, and generation facilities. Performs miscellaneous maintenance and repairs for transmission, substation, telecommunication, and generation facilities such as fencing, culverts, conduits, control buildings, and other facility infrastructure. Performs preparation and painting of transmission, substation, telecommunications, and generation facility equipment, structures, and apparatus.
