Building Maintenance Normal Work Schedule:
Monday•Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm; some nights, weekends, and other after normal hours as required
Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager of Building Maintenance schedules and delivers training. Inspects work in progress and at completion. Establishes work schedules and ensures that work is completed in a satisfactory and timely manner. Coordinates with other work groups to provide quality customer service. Drives from site to site.
Additional Department Summary:
Coordinates and oversees daily work activities of skilled trade personnel, including scheduling and assigning staff, managing resources, and supporting training and employee development. Provides on-site leadership to various trades to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with University standards. Assists with inspections, customer service, and the development of estimates and budgets.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and eight (8) years of building maintenance experience; OR associate's degree and six (6) years of building maintenance experience; OR bachelor's degree and four (4) years of building maintenance experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of building maintenance experience. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
Eight (8) years of facilities management experience or similar leadership experience in trades, construction management, industrial maintenance, or business management. Facilities management certification or credential from facilities maintenance industry. Ability to obtain and maintain a Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicators Permit from the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries within three (3) years of employment.
