Job Description

The Maintenance Director is responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the facility in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and guidelines, to assure a safe, clean, and sanitary environment is maintained. Responsibilities and Duties Maintain written maintenance policies and procedures. Interpret the department's policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc. Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the Maintenance Department. Coordinate maintenance services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Dietary, Nursing, Activities, Housekeeping, Laundry, etc.). Make written oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Maintenance Department. Assist in establishing a preventive maintenance program. Assist the Infection Control Coordinator in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job-related maintenance functions to ensure that tasks involving the potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded. Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directed. Assist in the develop of a plan of correction for maintenance deficiencies noted during survey inspections Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc., to assure control of equipment and supplies. Ensure that services performed by outside vendors are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders. Act as 24-hour on-call liaison for all facility emergency and non-emergency situations.
