MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
- hourly, non-exempt, full-time
Position Summary:
Maintenance supervisors oversee hotel maintenance, energy usage and many of the hotel's safety and security program; supervises, schedules, and trains maintenance utility staff members. Hotel areas maintained under the direction of the maintenance supervisor include public areas, guestrooms, support areas, machinery, equipment, and grounds. The maintenance supervisors are the hotel's safety officer.
Position Requirements:
Good oral and written use of English language, including the ability to read and understand equipment manuals, safety procedures and the ability to communicate maintenance and safety instructions. Access to a personal automobile during all hours. Holds a current, valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance. Maintains a safe driving record. Able to use personal computers, radios, hand tools, maintenance equipment, calculators and multi-button telephones. Have a high degree of initiative, good communication and organization skills. Has a professional demeanor and is professionally attired. Have initiative, good work habits and flexibility. Have some supervisory experience in commercial property maintenance or construction. Knowledgeable on OSHA regulations, health department rules, fire department regulations, hotel law and industry safety, security and health standards. Able to safely lift and carry 50 pounds for the purposes of installing and maintaining equipment, fixtures, and furniture and for retrieving and storing supplies. Able to assist with the evacuation of hotel guests and other emergency procedures. Able to drive a motor vehicle. Able to reach fully to the front, sides and overhead for the purposes of installing and maintaining equipment, fixtures, and furniture and for retrieving and storing supplies. Able to safely climb footstools and ladders. Can work in a kneeling position for up to two hours per day. Able to use common hand tools and electrical tools safely and efficiently. Able to bend and squat while performing maintenance tasks. Able to safely work in high places, such as rooftops; and able to work in confined spaces, such as crawl spaces. Able to wear protective clothing and equipment, such as gloves, respirators, and eyewear. Able to work safely with caustic chemicals used for cleaning, landscaping, and maintenance. Is knowledgeable on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), its regulations, court interpretations and related laws and regulations as they apply to accommodating hotel guests, visitors, and employees.
