This role holds full daily responsibility for all seven active service lines (turf, pest control, irrigation, pond, drainage, trash/debris, and structure cleaning), direct supervision of field crews and specialty subcontractors, and primary coordination with the VA Contracting Officer Representative. This position plays a vital role in maintaining RNC grounds to a high standard while supporting sensitive cemetery operations.

• Work occurs regardless of weather conditions except in extreme or unsafe circumstances Overview of Responsibilities Directing and overseeing work conducted by the grounds maintenance team daily in accordance with cemetery requirements and the Cemetery Grounds Management Plan, ensuring OSHA standards are followed in all work performed.

Manage and coordinate turf, pest control, irrigation, pond, drainage, trash/debris, and structure-cleaning crews and specialists across a single integrated weekly schedule. Conduct daily crew briefings covering work assignments, burial/ceremony schedule, and safety topics across all trades. Coordinating and assigning work areas based on the daily interment schedule to ensure maintenance work does not cause any burial, committal service, ceremony, funeral procession or visitation to be delayed, altered, or otherwise impacted in such a way that the dignity, security, or safety of the event or visit is compromised. Communicating daily with COR during burial section grooming to confirm off-limit areas, which will vary depending upon event. Perform no less than weekly inspections of the entire cemetery to ensure that National Shrine Standards are met and ensuring any deficiencies found during inspection are corrected as soon as practicable. Lead corrective-action response for performance-standard deficiencies. Communication Responsibilities Report daily to the cemetery COR when work is being performed and meet with the COR at the end of each day to determine work completed and ensure that work is on schedule. Send weekly emails to the COR Team outlining the work completed and scheduled for the following week each Friday and include sufficient detail by day and area to allow meaningful quality control. Customer Service Responsibilities & Cemetery Conduct Assisting cemetery visitor inquiries to the best of your ability. Exercising courtesy and respect at all times while within the cemetery. Maintaining awareness of the grounds where the work is performed, ensuring the utmost care and respect is given to headstones and flat grave markers. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Frequent walking, standing, bending, and working on uneven terrain Work is conducted year-round in varying weather conditions, with exposure to dust, pollen, insects, and noise. Requires good vision, hearing, and the ability to maintain landscaped and memorial areas.

Requirements:

A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a direct supervisor of commercial Landscape Maintenance/Installation operations (previous cemetery experience is a plus) Accreditation by the Landscape Contractors Association, or equivalent accreditation program, (e.g., PLANET).

• Proof of accreditation is required for consideration Prior experience working under/familiarity with NCA shrine standards as set forth by the VA (preferred) The ability to communicate effectively with company stakeholders, VA Cemetery representatives, direct reports, and cemetery visitors in English (verbal and written) Successfully completing a background check that complies with local and federal laws Valid Driver's License•To operate company vehicles and machinery The ability to reliably commute to the worksite Interested candidates, please submit resumes showcasing relevant experience.
