Manufacturing Full Job Description Department:

Maintenance Summary of Functions:

Directs and coordinates activities of maintenance associates and engages in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. Maintains maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and utility systems in accordance with established Safety, Quality, Food Safety (SQF), and Food Defense standards. Responsible for productivity, quality of work, departmental safety, assisting in controlling costs and reducing taste in maintenance, and other assigned departments.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervises, coordinates and integrates the work actions of all technicians and maintenance activities on utility systems (to provide continuous supply of heat, cooling, electric power, gas, or air required for operations) and production and processing equipment (optimizing uptime and minimizing downtime) Executes short range planning while supervising daily and weekly activities (both planned and unplanned) of maintenance technicians and contractors, ensuring timely completion and quality of work in a proactive manner. Reviews maintenance schedules and work orders and makes tactical decisions to optimize utilization of resources in alignment with equipment availability and plant priorities. Provides technical guidance and expertise, assisting and coaching maintenance techs, production and QA associates on an ongoing basis. Identifies performance gaps and assists with identifying and implementing training plans. Tracks and evaluates maintenance performance using Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), generating reports. Ensures departmental/individual compliance with National, State, local building/mechanical/electrical codes; safety codes, OSHA regulations; fire codes; company's and customer's policies, procedures, and standards. Overseas daily operations of projects assigned to the department. Supervises the execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Assist in the development of long-range planning in support of the company's, customer's and maintenance department's goals and objectives. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.

Food Safety and Quality Requirements/Responsibilities:

Assist in the implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance System. Assure GMPs are followed and maintain/distribute Work Orders when required. A member of the HACCP team

Organizational Relationships:

Position reports to Production Supervisor. Maintenance Technicians report to Maintenance Lead.

Production Supervisor Qualifications:

• Multi-craft/multi-skilled with expertise in electrical, electrical controls, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics and fabrication.
• Basic knowledge of minor estimating, scheduling, planning, and budgeting.
• Working knowledge of PLC's, VFD's, Servo's and plant automation systems.
• Previous experience with industrial controls using Allen Bradley control platforms, Motor Controls (Servo and VFD) a definite plus.
• Ability to work various shifts as needed.
• Associates degree or two-year technical school in the field of manufacturing technology or equivalent technical studies.
• 3+ years previous maintenance supervisory experience required, preferably in a food/beverage manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, mechanical and electrical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to fill out routine reports, correspondence documents and to speak effectively when conveying information to other employees. Should have good oral/written communication skills and speak in a professional manner.
• Working knowledge of computer system input, retrieval and use or the ability to learn in a reasonable training period.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentages and generate and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift to 50 pounds. Requires a normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.

Work Environment:

Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and / or humid conditions. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant making wearing of PPE essential. Occasionally work in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to cold environment, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

Pay:

$22.00 - $26.00 per hour
