Job Description

Service ManagerJob Overview Iron Horse Equipment is seeking a motivated, organized, and hands-on Service Manager to lead our growing service department. This role is critical to the success of our dealership and is responsible for managing daily shop operations, maximizing technician efficiency, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining the high standards our customers expect. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong leadership skills, and understands the importance of communication, accountability, and customer satisfaction. This is an opportunity to join one of Connecticut's leading outdoor power and agricultural equipment dealerships and play a major role in our continued growth. Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow management, repair prioritization, and customer communication. Manage and support a team of service technicians to ensure repairs are completed efficiently, accurately, and on time. Coordinate diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on outdoor power equipment, commercial mowing equipment, compact tractors, skid steers, excavators, UTVs, and related equipment. Prepare repair estimates, approve work orders, and ensure proper documentation of all service activities within the dealership management system. Maintain strong communication with customers regarding repair status, timelines, warranty coverage, and service recommendations. Ensure warranty claims are processed accurately and according to manufacturer guidelines. Monitor technician productivity, comeback repairs, and overall shop performance. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized service department. Assist in developing processes and systems that improve shop efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability. Work closely with the parts department to ensure technicians have timely access to required parts and materials. Uphold Iron Horse Equipment's commitment to delivering exceptional service and support after the sale. Qualifications Previous experience in a Service Manager or leadership role within a dealership, repair facility, or equipment service environment. Strong mechanical knowledge of outdoor power equipment, diesel equipment, compact construction equipment, or agricultural equipment. Experience with brands such as Scag, Stihl, Kioti, Gravely, Wright, or similar equipment manufacturers is preferred. Ability to lead, motivate, and hold technicians accountable while maintaining a positive team environment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Experience with service writing, estimating, warranty administration, and dealership management software. Ability to multitask and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced dealership environment. Customer-first mindset with a commitment to professionalism and problem solving. Hands-on mechanical experience is highly preferred.
