Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance, reliability, and operational readiness of all brewery, plant, taproom, utility, and facility assets. This role oversees all maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance programs, to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The position is accountable for maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, controlling maintenance costs, and ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee routine maintenance, repairs, shutdowns, and equipment overhauls.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor equipment performance and maintenance records to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Manage preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Supervise maintenance employees, contractors, and resources to ensure safe and efficient work execution.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability, operational efficiency, safety, and cost control.
INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • Collaborates with managers, supervisors, and employees across all departments to support operational goals.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with Production, Brewing, Packaging, Quality, Warehouse, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, Human Resources, and Safety teams.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, coaching, performance management, and development for maintenance personnel.
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
Relates externally with contractors, vendors and government inspectors, suppliers of goods and services. ❏
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, maintain, and execute a comprehensive maintenance strategy that supports operational reliability, safety, quality, and production goals. Plan, prioritize, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability. Maintain and continuously improve the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), equipment records, maintenance schedules, and repair history files. Monitor and analyze key maintenance performance indicators, including equipment reliability, downtime, maintenance costs, PM compliance, schedule compliance, work order completion, and asset utilization. Establish and maintain detailed equipment data files and asset histories and use trend analysis to recommend reliability improvements and preventive actions. Coordinate maintenance shutdowns, overhauls, and major repair projects, ensuring effective communication between Operations and Maintenance teams. Develop budgets, cost estimates, and capital expenditure proposals for maintenance projects, equipment replacements, and facility improvements. Participate in the evaluation, selection, installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and capital projects. Ensure all maintenance work is completed in accordance with company standards, technical specifications, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations. Establish and maintain inspection programs for all plant equipment and utilities, ensuring complete and accurate inspection records are maintained. Ensure all statutory inspections, certifications, and testing requirements for boilers, pressure vessels, air receivers, safety valves, relief systems, and other regulated equipment are completed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Maintain and oversee all plant utility systems, including water treatment and distribution, carbon dioxide systems, compressed air systems, electrical systems, steam generation and distribution systems, and facility infrastructure. Prepare and distribute maintenance reports, inspection findings, reliability analyses, and recommendations for repairs, modifications, replacements, and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage maintenance spare parts inventories and ensure the availability of critical parts, tools, and maintenance supplies while maintaining effective inventory controls. Lead, supervise, train, coach, and evaluate maintenance personnel, establishing performance expectations and support employee development and succession planning. Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, permit systems, hazard assessments, and personal protective equipment requirements. Collaborate with Environmental, Health, and Safety personnel to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards and maintain regulatory compliance. Support annual business planning activities by developing maintenance objectives, departmental budgets, capital plans, and resource requirements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, energy efficiency, operational excellence, and cost reduction. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. ❏
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum five (5) years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, food processing, beverage, brewing, or similar industrial environment. Minimum three (3) years of supervisory or management experience leading maintenance teams. Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance systems, reliability-centered maintenance, and CMMS platforms. Knowledge of industrial utilities, including steam, compressed air, water treatment, CO₂ systems, and electrical distribution systems. ❏
