SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR
(TITLE 32), WS-5801-13, you will provide direct input or participes in meetings and/or conferences with engineering, production control, and other personnel involving the initial analysis of long-range work requirements; review immedie and long-range requirements of organizional segments and groups supervised based on workload forecasts, and develops, for approval by their superiors, plans for meeting long-range resource requirements; assign and explain work requirements and opering instructions to subordine supervisors, set deadlines, and establish the sequence of work operions to be followed; maintain balanced workloads by shifting assignments, workers, and other resources to achieve the most effective work operions; develop and establish internal procedures (e.g., meetings, content, and timing of reports) to be followed by subordine supervisors to assure effective control and direction of work activities, organizions, and personnel supervised; develop, publish, and ensure employee compliance with standing opering procedures for the activity supervised; prepare for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions, inspections, mobilizion and command support exercises
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work is performed in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. There is frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching; or working on top of, under, and in tight compartments or cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Frequently lifts and carries items, unassisted, weighing up to 40 pounds; and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. May be required to work from ladders or work plforms varying heights.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, the incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperures, and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outside, the incumbent is exposed to bad weher, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. The incumbent is frequently exposed to irritions or discomfort from dust, he, fumes, and hard damp floors or ground. Typically works on parts and systems, which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, burns, bruises, and sprains while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Often exposed to the possibility of falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment; and skin irritions from acid, fluids, and lubricants. Uses safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hs, hard-toe shoes, respirors, and protective clothing, which may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods. : Must have experience or training which demonstres th the candide has the ability to organize assignments for subordines, estime merial and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: WS-13 must have least 36 mos experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more compliced systems; experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment; experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems; experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluing the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems. - In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstres the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience th provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstres the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communice knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situions.

PROMOTION- For Title 32 selectees only: This is an obliged position (incumbent is on a military tour). If a permanent employee in Title 32 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their permanent stus AND return to their previous Title 32 position once the incumbent returns from military duty.
