Shop Foreman Matheny Motors - 3.4 Oakland Park, FL Job Details Full-time 19 hours ago Qualifications Diesel engine system repair Customer communication Vehicle mechanics for truck drivers Team supervision Diesel mechanics Safety regulations Regulatory compliance Automotive equipment maintenance safety procedures Diesel engine electrical systems troubleshooting Fleet compliance management Fleet management High school diploma or GED Emission control systems Diesel truck repair Leading team collaboration initiatives Electrical maintenance CDK Maintenance management Diesel engine diagnostics Diesel engine brake system servicing Full Job Description Shop Foreman Duties Supervise fire and rescue apparatus technicians, installers and mechanics, ensuring productivity targets are met Assign jobs based on technician skill level (engine, electrical, hydraulics, etc.) Oversee diagnostics and complex repairs (engines, transmissions, aftertreatment systems like DEF/DPF, fire pump and electrical failures) Ensure timely turnaround to minimize truck downtime Perform final quality checks on completed work Assist technicians with troubleshooting difficult mechanical and electrical issues Coordinate road service and emergency repairs when required Enforce DOT compliance, safety regulations, and shop procedures Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safe working conditions Performs other duties as assigned Service Writer Duties Greet customers, engineers, and fire/ rescue fleet clients to assess service needs Open and manage detailed work orders for fire and rescue apparatus repair/ service Accurately document complaints, diagnostics, and repair requirements Provide clear estimates for labor, parts, and downtime Communicate repair status updates to customers and fleet managers Prioritize jobs based on urgency (road calls, breakdowns, fleet schedules) Handle repair orders, technician repair order hour reporting, technician efficiency and warranty documentation Work with parts suppliers to ensure fast availability of components Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Emergency Vehicle Technician certification in management strongly preferred or the ability to obtain within 6 months 5+ years of diesel/truck repair experience (Class 6-8 trucks) 2+ years in a leadership or foreman role (preferred) Strong understanding of: Diesel engines (Cummins, PACCAR) Air brake systems Electrical and diagnostic systems Emissions systems (DEF, DPF, SCR) Fire and Rescue apparatus systems Fire Pumps Experience with shop management or CDK fleet maintenance software Strong customer communication, especially with fleet operators and drivers Leadership and team coordination skills Ability to manage high-pressure, delivery deadline-driven environments Solid diagnostic and mechanical problem-solving skills Time management and prioritization (downtime-focused mindset) Attention to safety and regulatory compliance Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and work on the shop floor for extended periods Lift up to 75 lbs occasionally Exposure to noise, diesel fumes, grease, and varying weather conditions Work Environment Fire and rescue apparatus repair facility Mix of office/service counter and shop floor supervision Fast-paced environment with emphasis on turnaround time and uptime May include after-hours or emergency call support
