Hugh Robert Woodworks is a high-end custom cabinetry and architectural woodworking company specializing in one-of-a-kind cabinetry, built-ins, and custom furniture pieces. Our work is built from scratch for each project, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delivering an exceptional finished product for our clients. We are looking for an experienced Shop Foreman to lead the production side of our woodworking shop. This is a hands-on position for someone who is equally comfortable building high-quality custom work and leading a small team of craftsmen. The Shop Foreman will take projects from completed design packages through fabrication, assembly, finishing coordination, and installation. You will be responsible for understanding the drawings and specifications, determining how the project should be built, coordinating the work within the shop, and ensuring the finished product meets our quality standards. Responsibilities Review design packages, shop drawings, specifications, and project requirements and translate them into completed cabinetry and furniture pieces. Lead and work alongside a small production team in the fabrication and assembly of high-end custom cabinetry, built-ins, millwork, and custom furniture. Plan and coordinate day-to-day shop production to keep projects organized and moving on schedule. Assign work and provide direction to shop team members based on project priorities. Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship, fit, finish, and attention to detail throughout production. Identify potential fabrication or design issues before they become problems in the shop or field. Coordinate with the design team when questions or clarifications arise during production. Determine material, hardware, and component requirements for projects. Order and coordinate certain materials, hardware, and parts required for production. Monitor material availability and help ensure the shop has what it needs to keep projects moving. Participate in the installation of completed cabinetry, built-ins, and custom furniture pieces at client locations. Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication and installation challenges as they arise. Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe shop environment. Help establish and improve shop processes, workflow, and production standards. Qualifications Strong woodworking and cabinetry fabrication experience. Experience building custom cabinetry, millwork, built-ins, and/or furniture pieces. Ability to read and understand detailed shop drawings and design packages. Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, materials, hardware, joinery, and fabrication methods. Experience operating standard woodworking machinery and shop equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship. Ability to lead, organize, and work effectively with a small team. Ability to independently take a project from drawings through a completed physical product. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a custom production environment. Experience with cabinetry and millwork installation is strongly preferred. Previous foreman, lead carpenter, lead cabinetmaker, or shop leadership experience is preferred.
