Job Overview The House Manager will work in conjunction with the Estate Manager to oversee the overall management of the main estate and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the property. This includes managing routine upkeep, coordinating staff and contractors, and ensuring the property remains in excellent condition. The role involves hands-on troubleshooting and repairs, oversight of special projects, and maintaining safety standards. Additionally, the House Manager supports administrative functions such as purchasing, expense tracking, and project status reporting. Roles & Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Oversee day-to-day operations of the Main House, including pond management and general troubleshooting. Coordinate setups and breakdowns for visits and special events Manage routine building maintenance for both interior and exterior, including stone, tile, and wood finishes Schedule and supervise service contractors for regular upkeep and specialized tasks Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repairs for cabinets, appliances, doors, windows, lighting, fire features, and alarm systems Maintain in-depth knowledge of property systems (e.g. HVAC units, pump systems, etc.) Assist with payroll backup and credit card allocations Handle purchasing and maintain accurate reporting Ensure all maintenance and operations comply with safety standards Conduct regular safety inspections of the property, including fire features, alarm systems Respond promptly to safety hazards and implement corrective actions Conduct regular safety inspections of the property including alarm systems, equipment checks, and maintain and update safety protocols for staff & contractors Respond promptly to safety hazards and implement corrective actions Implement visitor protocols and ensure secure access to the property, respond to security alerts and incidents promptly and effectively Other duties as assigned Qualification To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience Must have 5+ years of house management experience including maintenance repair related skillsets Certificates, Licenses, Registrations May be required to have a valid driver's license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of property systems and maintenance practices is required Ability to manage contractors and coordinate multiple projects Ability to create high level reports on household projects and staff Knowledge of MS Office Suite is required Hands-on repair skills and problem-solving ability Familiarity with safety regulations and emergency procedures Organizational and administrative proficiency Must be flexible and able to work on the weekends Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; performance evaluations; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensure employees are properly trained on tasks and safety requirements.
