This individual will be responsible for managing workflow, assigning jobs, maintaining promised completion times, supporting parts lookups, selling recommended services, and developing a high-performing team. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced automotive environment, communicates effectively with customers and staff, and is committed to continuous growth and improvement. Key ResponsibilitiesShop Operations & Workflow Management Oversee the daily operations of the service department. Assign and prioritize repair orders based on technician skill level, workload, and customer deadlines. Monitor shop productivity and efficiency throughout the day. Ensure appointments and promised completion times are met whenever possible. Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve efficiency. Team Leadership Lead, motivate, and develop service technicians and support staff. Hold team members accountable for quality, productivity, and professionalism. Conduct daily shop meetings and communicate priorities clearly. Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new employees. Customer Service & Sales Build trust and maintain strong relationships with customers. Explain repair recommendations in a clear and professional manner. Present maintenance and repair opportunities that provide value to customers. Resolve customer concerns and complaints with professionalism and empathy. Utilize strong de-escalation skills to handle difficult situations and maintain customer satisfaction. Technical Support Assist technicians with diagnostics, repair planning, and technical questions as needed. Support parts sourcing and parts lookups to keep repairs moving efficiently. Ensure repair orders are complete, accurate, and properly documented. Maintain a strong understanding of automotive systems and repair procedures. Quality Control Review completed work for accuracy and quality. Ensure vehicles are repaired properly the first time. Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry best practices. Monitor comeback repairs and identify opportunities for improvement. QualificationsRequired Previous automotive service management, shop foreman, lead technician, or service advisor experience. Strong automotive repair knowledge. Proven ability to lead and manage people. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and customer service skills. Experience handling customer concerns and conflict resolution. Valid driver's license. Preferred Experience with shop management software. ASE certifications or equivalent automotive experience. Previous experience managing technician productivity and shop workflow. Tire and automotive service industry experience.
