Job Summary:
The Custodial Service Supervisor supervises the day to day operation of the custodial and maintenance department for the school district. Serves as a primary contact person for the department. This requires public and human relations skills, and effective oral and written communication skills. This position requires the use of independent judgment to deal with a variety of unanticipated problems and concerns.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities, experience and/or education as a custodial services supervisor. Or such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Work Days:
Twelve Month Contract
Reports to: Superintendent
Supervises:
Day Custodian and Night Custodians
Evaluation:
Performance of this job to be evaluated annually by the Superintendent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establishes and administers schedules and procedures for the regular, ongoing care and preventive maintenance of all school facilities and equipment of the district
Recruits, screens, recommends for hiring, assigns and supervises all custodial and maintenance staff
Selects the custodial supplies and equipment to be used, and maintains appropriate inventory
Calls meetings of the custodial and maintenance staff when it is deemed necessary for purposes of training or morale
Establishes and supervises summer cleaning programs and schedule
Inspects each building or grounds quarterly, and more often if necessary, for needed repair and maintenance and confers with principals regarding custodial and maintenance work
Helps prepare and administer the custodial and maintenance services budget
With the principals evaluates the performance of the custodial and maintenance staff on a regular basis
Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services, and oversees the work
Is the district's Hazardous Materials Coordinator
Meets with Day Custodian twice weekly or more often as necessary
Meets with Night Custodians twice monthly or more often as necessary
Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the superintendent This is an operational sharing position with the

The work environment is a standard school, maintenance shop, school buildings and grounds settings including standard custodial and maintenance equipment, standard office equipment, administrative and instructional computer technology. The noise level is usually low to moderate.
