Immediate The Decorah Community School District anticipates the need for a Director of Custodial Services. The Director of Custodial Services oversees all custodial operations for the Decorah Community School District. This position is responsible for ensuring district buildings are clean, safe, sanitary, and prepared for daily operations and school activities. The Director of Custodial Services supervises custodial personnel, establishes cleaning standards and procedures, and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Custodial Operations Lead and supervise custodial staff across the district. Hire, train, evaluate, and discipline custodial employees. Establish cleaning standards, procedures, and inspection schedules. Schedule daily, weekly, and seasonal cleaning assignments. Conduct regular inspections of district buildings for cleanliness and readiness. Coordinate custodial support for events, activities, and facility usage. Oversee floor care, sanitation, and event setup/teardown operations. Monitor work quality and staffing assignments based on building needs. Collaborate with principals and administrators regarding building expectations. Supplies and Equipment Manage custodial supplies, equipment, and inventory. Ensure proper use and storage of chemicals and cleaning materials. Train staff on safety procedures and equipment operation. Recommend equipment replacement and operational improvements. Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical management procedures. Assist with inspections and corrective actions related to custodial operations. Support emergency response and district safety procedures as needed. Other Responsibilities Assist with planning for summer cleaning and building readiness projects. Maintain positive communication with district staff and community members. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience in custodial management, facilities operations, or related field preferred. Licenses and Certifications Valid driver's license required. Successful completion of background checks required. Skills and Abilities Knowledge of custodial procedures, sanitation practices, and cleaning equipment. Ability to supervise and motivate staff. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and schedules. Knowledge of workplace safety practices and chemical handling procedures. The salary will be based on the length and relevance of the candidate's work history and the skills developed through their professional experiences.
