Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, maintain the physical school facilities in a condition that is safe, clean, attractive, pleasant and efficient that will provide all students with an excellent physical learning environment. Coordinates, supervises, inspects, plans and directs the work activities of school Operations and Maintenance, Transportation and Food Service Departments and contracted projects in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Position is a Cabinet level position and acts as a key advisor to the Superintendent.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Serves as the overall supervisor of the Transportation, Food Service and Operations and Maintenance departments. Recommends employment and assignment as well as evaluations of personnel as required. Estimates project and construction costs, prepares prioritized budget requests and Board presentation materials, and reconciles projected labor and construction costs with actuals upon project completion. Assists the CFO in developing and annually updating the District's long-range capital improvement and capital equipment plan, including the preparation of budget projections, supporting estimates, executive summaries for the Board, to ensure compliance with City of Sioux City requirements. Coordinates, implements, and supervises the construction, modernization, reconstruction, and relocation of new and existing schools and District facilities. Creates, implements, and monitors the annual facilities and maintenance budget; recommends purchases of materials and equipment; prepares specifications; and inspects completed work for compliance with established standards. Inspects buildings and grounds, determines the work needed for maintenance, organizes and plans a systematic program of preventive maintenance and upkeep. Ensures compliance with all state and federal safety regulations, Iowa State Department of Education regulations and the Sioux City Board of Education policy on district requirements. Establishes and oversees procedures so that all automotive equipment used for the transportation of students is properly maintained and meets state safety requirements. Directs a comprehensive District-wide safety and security program to support safe learning and working environments for students, staff, and visitors. Oversees and monitors building security systems, including door access controls, surveillance camera systems, and related safety infrastructure; collaborates with District leadership, law enforcement, and emergency response agencies to ensure compliance with safety protocols, support emergency preparedness efforts, and promote proactive risk prevention throughout the District. Meets with district and community groups affected by facilities projects, and represents the District to parent and community groups on matters related to maintenance, operations, and facilities. Consults with and advises architects and contractors on the design construction or alteration of school buildings and landscaped areas, reviewing and assisting in making changes to plans and specifications. Supervises large-scale repair work or projects undertaken by District personnel. Confers with the site principals on maintenance and operations problems and makes recommendations as required. Maintains complete records and maps of utility systems and changes made in these systems. Perform other duties as directed by the Superintendent.QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in business, construction or engineering preferred. Over five to seven years of experience required in construction, building maintenance, mechanical systems, leadership and budgeting. 10+ years preferred.COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical to the success of this position. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds. Communication will include individual to large group presentations as well as Board and media presentations.COLLABORATIVE SKILLS
Individual must show evidence of a high degree of collaboration when working with the Board, staff, and parents to create new opportunities to embrace and implement change intended to positively impact student achievement. Collaborative and influencing skills are also important when working through conflict and toward problem resolution. ANALYTICAL andREASONING SKILLS
Individual must have the ability to interpret data, measure program success, and determine appropriate changes necessary. Individual must be able to apply principles of complex thinking to a wide range of problems and issues that may not have any historical precedent and determine solutions where none are apparent. The ability to identify resources and seek input is critical to the success of this positionORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
Individual must be highly organized and maintain a wide variety of historical and current information. Individual will be responsible for developing and scheduling public events and informational programs.TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
Position requires the individual to be competent in a variety of methods in research and information gathering through technology. The ability to present and communicate through technology is required.OTHER IMPORTANT SKILLS
Position requires the individual to possess financial management, short and long range planning, and influencing skills. Individual must also be able to handle a large number of complex tasks and assignments at the same time through effective multi-tasking and time management skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
