Job Description

Overview We are urgently hiring a 3-person crew to maintain a large commercial apartment property (~80 acres / 24 buildings) in DeKalb, IL. This is steady, year-round work — landscaping and grounds care spring through fall, plus snow removal in the winter. We're looking to fill all positions within the next 7 days, with an immediate start. Positions Crew Leader (1) — runs the daily route, directs a 2-person crew, and tows the equipment trailer. CDL required. Crew Members (2) — hands-on grounds and landscaping work. What you'll do Mowing, trimming, and edging across a set weekly route Trimming and shaping bushes and shrubs Gardening and landscape bed maintenance (weeding, planting, mulching) Grounds cleaning — blowing, picking up debris/litter, and keeping the property tidy Snow removal in winter — plowing, shoveling, and salting during snow events Daily load-up, cleanup, and route prep Requirements Reliable and able to work outdoors in all conditions
Crew Leader:
valid CDL required (to tow the landscaping equipment trailer)
Crew Members:
valid driver's license preferred Landscaping or grounds-keeping experience a plus — will train the right people Physical requirements: Able to lift up to 50 lbs; bend, stand, and walk full shifts; work in heat and cold. Why join us Year-round paychecks — snow work keeps you employed through winter Overtime during peak season and snow events Friendly, safety-first crew Duties Lead and supervise a team of landscape technicians to complete maintenance, planting, and installation projects efficiently and safely Oversee landscape maintenance tasks including lawn care, pruning, mulching, and seasonal cleanups Manage landscaping projects from planning through execution, ensuring quality standards are met or exceeded Provide guidance on horticulture practices, plant health care, and tree care to promote healthy growth and sustainability Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times during all landscape activities Maintain equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure readiness for daily operations Requirements Proven experience in landscape maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture with a strong understanding of lawn care and gardening techniques Supervising experience with the ability to lead teams effectively in outdoor settings Knowledge of construction practices related to landscape installation and site preparation Familiarity with tree care, and general maintenance procedures Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and organize team members Excellent communication skills for coordinating tasks and ensuring safety compliance Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining high standards of quality CDL Driver's license to pull a trailer with landscaping equipment required.
