FACILITY OPERATIONS-IUB
(BL-PHYP-IUBLA) Department Information Capital Planning and Facilities (CPF) works to ensure that Indiana University (IU) campuses are beautiful, functional, and sustainable supporting excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community engagement across the entire university. A unit within CPF, Facility Operations, maintains our physical campus to support research, teaching, and learning at Indiana University Bloomington. As a unit of Capital Planning and Facilities, Facility Operations provides wide-ranging services all with the goal of creating a beautiful, well-functioning campus. Job Summary Monitors and controls a variety of computerized electrical and mechanical systems controlling utilities. Maintains operating logs; records readings; evaluates conditions; diagnoses problems. Contacts appropriate craft to resolve problems; explains problem and severity of difficulty; makes recommendation of priority. Answers phone; takes emergency calls and service requests from building users. Maintains radio and pager contact with night operations and other departments. Gathers and collates data for reports and summaries. Prepares service request tickets. Keeps daily logs. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred Some relative experience with 1 year building maintenance experience SKILLS. Required Proficient communication skills Maintains a high degree of professionalism Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills Demonstrates a high commitment to quality Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment Highly thorough and dependable Knowledge of campus operations Knowledge of a variety of crafts involved in facility and physical plan maintenance Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Ability to prepare records and reports Ability to exercise independent judgment Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
