Corporation Maintenance Supervisor SUMMARY:
The Building Maintenance Supervisor directs and participates in the performance of all maintenance and custodial activities in the school building. He/she must be knowledgeable in general areas of plumbing, air conditioning, electrical maintenance, carpentry and general maintenance. The goal of the position is to actively supervise other custodial personnel and perform custodial and maintenance duties to maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment conducive to the educational process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Examines buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs, maintenance and cleanliness. Plan and direct the work of the building custodial personnel. Communicates with the building Principal regarding daily operations, needs, recommendations and related matters. Establishes and recommends, in collaboration with Building Administrators and Corporation Maintenance Supervisor, priorities on repair projects and estimates on the cost of the projects. Cleans and maintains boilers, HVAC equipment and general mechanical systems. Consults with local businesses to contract work for equipment repair/projects. Performs general maintenance repairs in the buildings. Plans and oversees all maintenance and repair work and develops an efficient system for dealing with emergency repair problems. Orders materials and supplies as needed and maintains necessary inventories. Makes recommendations to the Corporation Maintenance Supervisor for equipment purchase. Assists in general mechanics of remodeling and renovation work. Responsible for the setting up and tearing down of equipment during special events (graduation, concerts, etc.) Performs mowing and facility/grounds upkeep. Assists in snow removal. Follows other directives from the Principal or Corporation Maintenance Supervisor that serve to improve services to the students, staff and SED community.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Hands on knowledge and experience in the safe operation of a variety of tools, machinery, power equipment used in performing essential functions. Basic knowledge of building codes and construction terminology. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and efficiently complete all activities. Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact/communicate with students, staff, and members of the community. Self-starter, ability to set and meet goals, and a desire to excel. Ability to problem solve. Maintain the ability to satisfy all physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling heavy objects, frequent stopping, kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, climbing a ladder, etc. Ability to withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
