Established Employee-Owned Industrial Manufacturer Seeking Maintenance Manager in Hammond, Indiana!

An established and stable lead oxide manufacturer is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and reliability operations at its Hammond, Indiana manufacturing facility.

This position will oversee the maintenance team and drive the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of lead oxide production equipment, electrical and mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, material-handling equipment, process piping, dust collection systems, and Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled machinery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance leader who can balance day-to-day plant support with long-term reliability improvements! The Maintenance Manager will partner with production, engineering, environmental health and safety, and plant leadership to reduce downtime, strengthen preventive maintenance practices, develop maintenance personnel, and support a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

industrial, chemical processing, metals, battery manufacturing, or military environment7+ years of progressive maintenance leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferredStrong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, process piping, utility, and industrial machinery systemsExperience troubleshooting and supporting Allen-Bradley PLCs, industrial controls, motors, drives, instrumentation, and automated production equipmentDemonstrated success building and managing preventive and predictive maintenance programsExperience using a computerized maintenance management system to manage work orders, maintenance history, spare parts, preventive maintenance schedules, and equipment performanceKnowledge of root cause analysis, reliability-centered maintenance, equipment failure analysis, and continuous improvement practicesExperience managing maintenance budgets, outside contractors, capital projects, repair costs, and critical spare-parts inventoriesWorking knowledge of OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, confined-space procedures, hot-work controls, and safe maintenance practicesExperience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment involving industrial hygiene, air-quality controls, dust collection, hazardous materials, or employee exposure controls strongly preferredStrong leadership, communication, coaching, organizational, and analytical skillsAbility to prioritize competing production needs and respond effectively to urgent equipment or facility issuesAbility to work safety requirementsEnsure maintenance work supports the effective operation of ventilation, air-handling, dust-collection, and employee exposure-control systemsManage department spending, repair-versus-replacement decisions, contractor expenses, overtime, spare-parts inventory, and maintenance budgetsIdentify critical spare parts and establish appropriate inventory levels to reduce the risk of extended equipment downtimeSelect, coordinate, and hold outside contractors and service providers accountable for safety, quality, schedule, and cost performanceEvaluate team performance, identify training needs, provide technical coaching, and create development opportunities for maintenance personnelSupport equipment modifications, process improvements, capacity expansions, and new equipment installationsDevelop standardized maintenance procedures, inspection routes, job plans, troubleshooting guides, and equipment documentationMaintain an organized, responsive, and safety-focused maintenance department that supports continuous production and long-term plant performance
