Lead HVAC Job Description Purpose:
To perform heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) work such as wiring buildings, repairing gas and electric heating units and repairing air conditioning units.

Qualifications:
1. Must have at least two years of maintenance experience on gas/electric heating units and all types of window or central air conditioning units. 2. Must hold HVAC certification. 3. Valid Kansas driver's license.
Essential Functions:
1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities a. Maintain school buildings in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. b. Determine HVAC requirements in each building and ensure that all HVAC and electrical work meets code. c. Perform HVAC and electrical work including repair as well as wiring buildings and equipment. d. Repair or replace HVAC control systems components. e. Charges air conditioning systems with refrigerant and evacuate systems, as required. f. Require skills in manufacturing and dismantling as well as repair work. g. Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly. h. Monitor work done by individuals assigned to him. i. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district. j. Must be able to read and understand blue prints. k. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations. 2.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
a. Must be able to work with precision and control where damage could be considerable. b. Requires considerable lifting, stooping, bending. c. Requires climbing and balancing. d. Exposure to areas where high voltage electricity is present. e. Requires the use of protective equipment and clothing, as needed. f. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. g. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
General Responsibilities:
1. Repair or replace gas and electric heating units. 2. Repair or replace air conditioning systems or components. 3. Read and understand general blue prints. 4. Troubleshoot, repair, replace, remove or reinstall electrical components in building and equipment. 5. Coordinate work orders in the HVAC shop and set a good example by creating a safe work environment. 6. Give accurate and complete information on maintenance work orders. 7. Assist in snow removal from school district building walkways, entrances and parking areas. 8. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques. 9. Adhere to all district health and safety policies. 10. Other duties assigned by the maintenance supervisor, which are consistent with the general requirements of the position.
