$81,738 - $97,599/annually Stearns County is seeking a dedicated individual to join the Building Facilities team. See our Benefits Overview. Position Objective To provide assistance and supervision during the maintenance, construction, remodeling, and repair of buildings and facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring a functional and safe environment for the general public and employees and assists with planning construction, preventative and general building maintenance projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities These examples do not include all possible responsibilities in this position and do not limit the assignment of related duties to this classification. 1. Provides technical knowledge and support for projects and staff. 2. Manages preventative maintenance projects; repairs and replaces equipment used in the facilities to provide a safe and secure environment for County employees and the Public. 3. Creates project and work schedules to ensure projects are completed on time. 4. Prioritizes and assigns work orders. 5. Assists with the maintenance and cleaning of grounds, buildings and facilities. 6. Schedules and assists with snow removal. 7. Maintains inventory to ensure supplies are available as needed. 8. Collaborates with inspectors to approve work and correct deficiencies. 9. Installs construction and maintenance items to assist with completion of projects. 10. Monitors and assists outside vendors doing work on County buildings. 11. Maintains and repairs the card reader and energy management systems. 12. Performs documentation for projects and records. 13. Interprets blueprints and drawings for new construction and department projects. 14. Collects and maintains reports regarding equipment data, and equipment schematics; inspects on-site construction conditions. 15. Ensures that safety policies and procedures are followed by employees and the general public around construction sites. 16. Selects, trains, supervises, evaluates performance, and disciplines employees. 17. Assists with preparation of the department budget. 18. Attends work in a regular and timely manner. 19. Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule. 20. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. Minimum Qualifications In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following: High school graduate or equivalent Five years of progressively related experience in construction, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or building maintenance including four years of supervising employees in construction, plumbing, mechanics, electrical or building maintenance Must possess Specialist Boilers license or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire Must possess 2-C Boilers license or have the ability to obtain within 2 years of obtaining Specialist Boilers license Must possess a valid Minnesota Class "D" Driver's License, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment Experience usingMicrosoft Office Applications Preferred Experience Beyond Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with keycard security systems and software Experience with Building Automation software Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Knowledge of operating requirements, safety precautions, preventative and general facilities maintenance. 2. Knowledge of construction methods. 3. Knowledge of creating and using blueprints, drawings, models, and plans. 4. Knowledge of preventative and general facilities maintenance. 5. Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and requirements. 6. Ability to operate various equipment, hand tools, and portable power tools. 7. Ability to coordinate the work and activities of others. 8. Ability to prioritize and organize work. Accountabilities Shared By All Employees 1. Administers County policies and Labor contracts and documents and reports all incidents and actions taken as a member of the supervisory/management team to the appropriate chain of command and/or Human Resources. Work Environment and Physical Demands The primary responsibilities for this position will be performed approximately 75% of the time indoors and approximately 25% of the time outdoors. May require minimal attendance at evening meetings. Will have some exposure to health hazards and accidents; requires a low to moderate level of physical effort. Extent of Supervision or Guidance Provided Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager. Supervision of Others This position supervises Master Electrician, Master Plumber, Journeyman Electrician, Carpenter, and Maintenance employees. Responsibility for Public Contact Frequent. Hours of Work This position has a normal work schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; 4 days per week. May include some hours outside of normal work hours on occasion.
