Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
West Boylston Public Schools is seeking a hands-on Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor to support the safe, clean, and efficient operation of district buildings. This position provides hands-on supervision of custodial staff and coordinates daily maintenance activities to ensure all facilities are well-maintained, secure, and fully operational for students, staff, and the community.
This is a working supervisory role focused on day-to-day operations, staff coordination, and ensuring high standards of building cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
Standard hours are typically 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., with occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends to supervise staff at various shifts, and emergency response required (including snow events and urgent facility needs).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate daily custodial and maintenance staff activities
- Establishes and administers schedules and procedures for the custodial & maintenance care of all school buildings and facilities
(including grounds) for the West Boylston Public Schools
- Assign and review work related to cleaning, repairs, safety, and grounds upkeep
- Operate and maintain equipment (mowers, trimmers, floor machines, snow removal equipment, etc.)
- Conduct routine inspections of district facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on tools, equipment, and facilities
- Support preventive maintenance of building systems (HVAC, boilers, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
- Respond to facility issues and coordinate timely repairs
- Assist with snow removal and seasonal facility operations
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Coordinate inspections (fire, elevator, boiler,school opening, etc.)
- Serve as Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Coordinator
- Support small-to-mid facility projects and coordinate with contractors
- Assist with procurement of supplies and maintenance materials per district policy
- Maintain clear communication with principals, staff, and district leadership
- Support school events and facility scheduling needs
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and inspections
