SCHEDULE
Day shift and overtime mandatory if needed + on-call and weekend coverage as needed Lead from the floor—not from behind a desk. Tidewater Direct is seeking a senior industrial maintenance professional who can solve complex equipment problems, organize the work, and help set the standard for a responsive, accountable maintenance team at our Centreville manufacturing facility. This position combines advanced hands-on troubleshooting with day-to-day leadership. You will help determine priorities, coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance, guide other mechanics, communicate with production leadership, and make sure critical work is carried through to completion. What You Will Lead and Own- Take the lead on complex mechanical, electrical, and control-system troubleshooting across printing presses, bindery equipment, compressors, chillers, forklifts, clamp trucks, air systems, pumps, motors, drives, and facility systems.
- Prioritize daily maintenance work according to safety, production impact, urgency, available labor, parts, and long-term equipment reliability.
- Direct and support maintenance mechanics during troubleshooting, repairs, installations, rebuilds, and preventive-maintenance work.
- Communicate equipment status, risks, repair plans, and realistic completion expectations to production and plant leadership.
- Build and improve preventive-maintenance schedules, equipment histories, work records, and recurring-problem follow-up.
- Coordinate vendors, contractors, service calls, parts sourcing, and critical spare-parts inventory.
- Review schematics, manuals, and technical information; help the team develop safe, repeatable repair methods.
- Participate in emergency, after-hours, and weekend coverage when required to support operations. The Experience We Are Looking For
- Extensive hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, printing, converting, packaging, or similarly equipment-intensive environment.
- Advanced mechanical troubleshooting across gears, gearboxes, shafts, bearings, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, brakes, hoists, motors, compressors, and drive systems.
- Strong industrial electrical knowledge, including the ability to read schematics and troubleshoot motors, wiring, control circuits, PLC-related equipment, sensors, and control boards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead work, establish priorities, hold people accountable, and earn credibility through technical competence and follow-through.
- Sound judgment under pressure and the ability to distinguish a safe temporary recovery from a proper permanent repair.
- Strong organization and communication skills, including maintenance documentation, email, spreadsheets, online research, and vendor coordination.
- A calm, team-centered leadership style that develops people, addresses problems directly, and keeps the focus on safe, reliable production. What Tidewater Direct Offers
- Annual pay of $90,000-$125,000, based on leadership experience, industrial electrical capability, and depth of mechanical expertise.
- A visible leadership role with meaningful authority to improve maintenance execution and equipment reliability.
- Benefits after 90 days, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
- A varied equipment environment where strong technical judgment and leadership make a measurable difference every day.
