Job Description
INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY
- Manages the day-to-day operations of 2 nd shift for the Office of Maintenance across trades.
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. Eight years of experience in commercial building construction and maintenance, including three years at a supervisory level. Four years of contract administration for the repair, maintenance, and installation of major mechanical equipment.Note:
Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of managing major equipment services, preventive maintenance, repair, and installation contracts. Knowledge of building codes and standards. Knowledge of engineering. Knowledge of the principals and practices of contract administration. Knowledge in administering a relocatable program. Knowledge of materials and specifications. Skill in contract administration. Skill in the preparation and review of contract documents. Skill in overseeing, coordinating, and inspecting work performed by contractors, vendors, and consultants. Skill in preparing reports. Ability to supervise staff. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with contractors, school-based administrators, in-house staff, and others. Ability to communicate effectively. The duties of this class require travel to work sites throughout Baltimore County.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Persons appointed to this classification are designated as Essential Personnel and are required to work when schools and/or offices are closed during adverse weather conditions or any other emergency. Persons appointed to this class are required to work during emergency events, subject to call to duty, and may be required to work beyond their normally scheduled hours with little or no advanced notice.RETIREMENT

All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109. Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US. If you have military experience, you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214. Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via e-script/clearinghouse from your university. Plans, prioritizes, assigns, and supervises the work of assigned employees and contractors. Reviews contract documents, project scopes, and schedules to ensure compliance with requirements, standards, and funding allocation. Collaborates with school administrators, department heads, and central office staff to determine their needs as they relate to the Office of Maintenance. Performs special projects as assigned. Prepares and presents reports. Researches, develops, and communicates recommendations and solutions to issues. Reviews, develops, and administers contracts for the installation, repair, and maintenance of building systems and their components. Supervises and inspects work performed by contractors, vendors, consultants, and in-house staff. Ensures that the work adheres to established schedules, standards, and contracts. Meets with and coordinates project work with school-based administrators, contractors, departmental staff, and others. Facilitates the timely and accurate completion of project work. Reviews and approves contractor requests for payments. Coordinate's payment releases. Maintains and reviews records of project progress. Prepares correspondence relating to contracts. Responds to building and equipment emergency events. Prepares and implements short and long-range plans for the preventive maintenance and repair of equipment, and the relocatable program.
