Job Description

1st Assistant Superintendent OverviewLinks at Perry Cabin is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of 1st Assistant Superintendent. Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior playing conditions for members and their guests.

Experience Required
  • Bachelors degree, Associates degree or equivalent from a four or two year college; 3-4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to obtain a Maryland pesticide license within 6 months of employment.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Work with the Superintendent to ensure the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
  • Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and directing maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Supervise planting and cultural practices for turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
  • Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained.
  • Assist in procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
  • Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with preparation of reports.
  • Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
  • Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
  • Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
  • Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within regulations and address environmental concerns.
  • Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
  • Assure effective orientation and training for new associates and develop ongoing training programs.
  • Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in manpower, productivity, costs, and expenses.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
