As an Assistant Team Leader, your work directly supports the safety of fire departments, refineries, and defense installations across the country while helping lead a crew responsible for delivering high-quality service and operational excellence. Position Overview As an Assistant Team Leader, you'll support the Team Leader in overseeing a 4-6 person crew at customer sites throughout the country while helping ensure safety, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and adherence to FireCatt standards. This role combines hands-on physical work with developing leadership responsibilities, including problem-solving, training, communication, and day-to-day operational support. Crews typically travel for 3-5 weeks at a time, followed by approximately 3-5 days off at home before launching again from the designated General Meeting location . This is a fully travel-based role with no local opportunities available. Applicants must reside in the state in which they are applying and be able to travel directly to job sites or travel with the crew. Time spent on the road and at home may vary based on business needs, and these timeframes are general estimates. This is a physically demanding, hands-on leadership development role. You'll spend your days working outdoors, operating equipment, loading and testing hose, climbing on fire trucks when needed, and helping lead your crew through changing jobsite conditions. Successful Assistant Team Leaders lead through influence, remain reliable under pressure, solve problems proactively, communicate effectively, and are trusted to independently manage portions of the job while representing FireCatt professionally with customers and team members. Key Responsibilities Assist the Team Leader with daily jobsite operations while helping maintain safety, quality, and production standards Help create a positive, team-oriented work environment while supporting crew morale and accountability Assist with crew coordination, workflow, priorities, and adapting to changing jobsite conditions Communicate issues, concerns, or operational challenges to the Team Leader proactively and in a timely manner Help train and support the Technicians to ensure employees have the tools, guidance, and support needed to perform successfully Serve as a leadership resource to peers by helping maintain focus, productivity, and professionalism during challenging or changing conditions Run portions of the day or job independently as assigned while ensuring standards are maintained Drive company vehicles as needed to support team travel, including pulling enclosed trailers when appropriate Load, unload, and stack large volumes of fire hose, including hoses weighing approximately 80-100 lbs Uncouple and recouple hose sections using spanner wrenches Climb on top of fire trucks to load hose using a conveyor system Set up, operate, and tear down FireCatt's mobile testing systems at customer locations Accurately document apparatus information, maintain customer sign-off documentation, and ensure job paperwork is completed accurately and timely Frequently communicate with customers to support a positive experience and ensure satisfaction Troubleshoot and resolve minor operational or mechanical issues, escalating concerns appropriately when needed Follow all FireCatt Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs), NFPA standards, and safety procedures Serve as a role model by maintaining professionalism, accountability, and the FireCatt brand Requirements Valid driver's license; must pass MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check and be insurable Must meet company driving and insurance eligibility requirements for operation of company vehicles, which currently includes being at least 21 years of age Must reside in the state in which applying Demonstrated ability to perform sustained physical labor in demanding work environments Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and leadership influence in team-oriented environments Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the role, including frequent lifting, moving, and handling equipment and fire hose weighing 80-100 lbs+, with or without reasonable accommodation Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditions Comfortable with shared lodging accommodations during travel assignments, which may include sharing a hotel room with one other teammate Willing and able to travel 100% of the time, including 3-5 week travel loops with launches from the designated General Meeting location Willing and able to climb on fire trucks as needed Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership potential Previous trailer-pulling experience strongly preferred Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a background check and drug test if required by law, customer requirements, or business necessity Schedule & Hours Schedules may vary based on weather, customer demands, travel, and job site conditions. Start times are often early, and weekly hours can fluctuate depending on operational needs. Some weeks may include overtime, while others may involve lighter schedules. Flexibility, adaptability, and dependability are essential for success in this role.

While promotions are based on business needs and individual performance, employees are typically considered for advancement to Team Leader after approximately 6 months or more in the Assistant Team Leader role and after demonstrating: Consistent reliability, professionalism, and adherence to FireCatt's core values, safety standards, NFPA requirements, and Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs) Demonstrated ability to independently manage portions of jobs while maintaining safety, quality, production, morale, and customer service standards Strong understanding of FireCatt operations, production expectations, jobsite workflow, and the impact operational decisions have on efficiency and performance Leadership demonstrated through effective communication, accountability, teamwork, delegation, problem-solving, adaptability, and the ability to positively influence others The ability to train, develop, support, and hold team members accountable while representing leadership expectations professionally Sound judgment, proactive decision-making, and the ability to identify, address, and appropriately escalate issues when necessary Advancement is based on demonstrated readiness, leadership effectiveness, safety performance, operational execution, and overall contribution to team success—not solely on tenure.
