Job Description
Assistant Maintenance and Capital Projects Manager General Description Under the direction of the General Manager and the Maintenance and Capital Projects Manager, this position is responsible in assisting with oversight of the total operation of the maintenance department, including the functions of personnel administration for those in that department, maintenance reports and record keeping, purchasing and stores of maintenance items, service vehicle maintenance, revenue vehicle maintenance, managing capital projects, as well as building and grounds maintenance. Preferred knowledge and experience in the following
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associates Degree in management or related field OR 5 years of management/supervisory experience
- Building and vehicle maintenance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL
- Ability to obtain and maintain relevant ASE certifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
- Experience in maintenance or industrial role
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Strong understanding of light-duty and heavy duty vehicle maintenance
- Knowledge of fleet management systems, vehicle diagnostics, etc.

- Labor relations Examples of Duties
- Supervise skilled and unskilled employees engaged in the inspection, service, maintenance and repair of revenue vehicles, truck, automobiles, as well as buildings and grounds.
- Administration of the human resource function for those employees withing the department in accordance with approved policies, as well as the policies and procedures contained within LETCs policy and procedures manual and the terms of the labor agreement for Union employees.
- Responsible for filling open shifts in accordance with the labor agreement
- Assist in interviewing, selection and training of new team personnel in accordance with the labor agreement
- Responsible for having a complete understanding of all elements the labor agreement
- Direct the on-going implementation of LETC's preventative maintenance program for facilities and equipment
- Review and analyze reports of fuel and fluids consumption, tire costs, equipment road failures, shop work progress and overall maintenance costs
- Review, approve and forward requisitions for the purchase of equipment, parts, materials, supplies, as well as examine competitive bids and products submitted by vendors
- Analyze site organization, new work methods, employee training, cost control methods, and establish and maintain work standards and procedures
- Inspect all facilities at regular intervals for compliance with safety rules and regulations and fire protections safeguards
- Plan, direct and coordinate the development and advancement of subordinates through training
- Supervise parts room personnel, the purchase and storage of parts and the distribution of authority owned supplies and tools
- Make Recommendations for the replacement of capital equipment and determine the specifications for such equipment
- Determine and make recommendations on long term goals and objective as related to the maintenance department and its functions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
