Job Description
Position Information:
The Service Manager is responsible for running an efficient and profitable service department. S/he will operate the department at maximum production, controlling costs, building a loyal clientele, maintaining good employee relationships, setting and obtaining sales and profit objectives, and maintaining service records. The service manager is responsible for ensuring that customers receive a positive experience.Duties and Responsibilities:
Assure proper repair order flow to satisfy warranty/dealership/and accounting office requirements. Account for all documents and monitor the quality and accurateness of all paperwork produced. Ensure that proper service sales techniques are being used by staff. Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all service department staff. Assist all subordinate service staff in all phases of their job descriptions. Direct and schedule the activities of all department employees. Administer merchandising, advertising and promotional activities for the department. Maintain technician and staff training in compliance with manufacturer guidelines. Provide technical assistance to employees as needed. Monitor staffing levels, compensation levels and department turnover. Monitor employee payroll, absenteeism, tardiness, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Maintain accurate records, and ensure warranty requirements and proper repair procedures are followed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. Ensure that customer inconveniences, complaints and misunderstandings are dealt with fairly and quickly. Communicate with customers before issues arise and get involved in escalated customer issues. Maintain customer satisfaction performance levels above that of an average dealership. Ensure that all required technical publications, bulletins, notices, alerts, etc., are obtained, kept up to date, and properly maintained. Properly document employee behavior that may result in punitive job actions such as termination. Report to management any circumstances that compromise the integrity of the dealership. Ensure that all shop equipment is properly maintained and kept in proper working condition. Conduct meetings with departmental employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest. Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business. Attend manager meetings, hold and participate in employee meetings as requested. Manage monthly department meetings with employees to discuss training, work place safety, and other department and dealership issues. Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right to Know, etc.. Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments. Monitor Policy Adjustments, Comebacks, shop supplies, and loaner cars. Ensure that customer service files are kept in order and are readily accessible. Follow manufacturer guidelines on warranty administration, documentation, and record keeping requirements. Maintain the highest possible standards of workmanship. Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Ensure that service department employees follow safety policies and practices and that they report any and all accidents immediately. Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company vision, mission and values in all interactions with customers, co-workers, and suppliers.Qualifications:
Three to five years experience in an auto repair facility. OEM / Dealership experience preffered. Two or more years of supervisory experience. Must meet the company's requirements for employment. Must hold a valid driver license. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two year or four year college or technical degree is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional appearance. Excellent customer service skills.Working Conditions:
The Service Manager will work at a desk or counter which is exposed to noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, dust, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. S/he will move about the service area to work with the service staff, auto technicians, parts personnel, etc.. S/he will be required to operate vehicles, inspect vehicles and vehicle components inside and outside the building. Will be exposed to inclement weather and prolonged periods of standing, stooping and bending. Pay negotiable based on education and experience.Job Type:
