H2O Innovation is a leading company in water and wastewater treatment, specializing in innovative water technologies, services, specialty products, and contract operations. We are seeking a skilled Mechanic Shop Foreman/Manager to join our team in Gulfport, MS. Our next colleague will hold a full-time & permanent position. In this role, the shop foreman will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance shop and provide supervision to mechanics and assigned shop personnel.

Position OverviewThe Shop Foreman will oversee the daily operations of the vehicle & equipment maintenance shop and provide direct supervision to the mechanics and other assigned employees. This position will be responsible for assigning work, managing repair priorities, monitoring equipment downtime, reviewing work orders, coordinating preventive maintenance, and ensuring repairs are completed safely and correctly. The Shop Foreman must also be capable of assisting with advanced troubleshooting and hands-on repairs when needed.

Mechanics and assigned shop personnelManagement Experience RequirementMore than five years of experience in a management, supervisory, shop foreman, or lead mechanic position is required.

Must have experience directly supervising employees.

Must have experience assigning and prioritizing daily work.

Must be able to monitor employee productivity and repair progress.

Must be comfortable holding employees accountable for performance, attendance, safety, documentation, and shop procedures.

Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, vendors, and management.

Daily ResponsibilitiesSupervise mechanics and assigned shop personnel.

Plan, prioritize, and assign daily repair work.

Conduct daily shop meetings or work-assignment discussions.

Review open work orders and monitor repair progress.

Track equipment downtime and expected completion dates.

Coordinate preventive maintenance services.

Inspect completed repairs before equipment is returned to service.

Ensure all repairs meet company and manufacturer requirements.

Assist mechanics with difficult diagnostics and repairs.

Coordinate emergency and field repairs.

Communicate equipment status to supervisors and management.

Coordinate repairs with dealerships, vendors, and outside repair facilities.

Review parts needs and help identify and order correct repair parts.

Assist with warranty claims and vendor communication.

Ensure labor, parts, meter readings, notes, and repair details are entered correctly into the maintenance system.

Monitor shop cleanliness and organization.

Enforce safety procedures and proper work practices.

Monitor tool control and proper storage of parts, fluids, and equipment.

Provide employee training, coaching, and technical guidance.

Assist with employee evaluations and corrective actions when required.

Perform hands-on repairs when workload or staffing requires assistance.

Respond to breakdowns and urgent equipment needs when required.

Fleet and Equipment ExperienceThe preferred candidate should have experience in maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment, including:

Gas and diesel vehiclesLight-duty and heavy-duty trucksVacuum trucksTractors and side-arm mowersExcavatorsBackhoesLoadersTrailersLawn and grounds-maintenance equipmentHydraulic equipmentAir-brake systemsConstruction and material-handling equipmentTechnical SkillsStrong diesel and gasoline engine knowledge.

Strong electrical diagnostic skills.

Knowledge of hydraulic systems and schematics.

Knowledge of airbrake and pneumatic systems.

Knowledge of transmissions, drivetrains, steering, suspension, and brake systems.

Experience diagnosing emissions and aftertreatment systems.

Ability to troubleshoot computer-controlled vehicle and equipment systems.

Ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment.

Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, service manuals, and parts manuals.

Ability to determine repair needs and order the correct parts.

Ability to inspect repairs and determine whether equipment is safe to return to service.

Experience using computerized maintenance or work-order software.

Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.More than five years of experience in a management, supervisory, shop foreman, or lead mechanic role.

Minimum of five years of hands-on experience repairing automotive, diesel, construction, or heavy equipment.

Valid drivers license.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple repairs and changing priorities.

Ability to maintain accurate computerized records and reports.

Ability to work in both shop and field environments.

Must be able to pass all required pre-employment screenings.

Preferred QualificationsTechnical or vocational training in automotive, diesel, heavy-equipment, or fleet maintenance.

Class A or Class
B CDL.ASE
certifications.

EPA Section 609 or
MACS 609
certification.

Experience managing a municipal, construction, utility, or mixed-equipment fleet.

Experience with computerized fleet maintenance and work-order systems.

Experience coordinating outside repairs, warranties, vendors, and parts purchasing.
