Non-Exempt Position Summary Responsible for maintaining the company fleet, shop, and yard; performing gasoline and diesel repairs; coordinating equipment movement, utilization, rentals, and DOT compliance; and ensuring equipment is safe, compliant, and available for field operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, diesel/gasoline trucks, trailers, and small engines. Perform oil changes, brakes, hydraulics, electrical, suspension, tire, engine, and welding/fabrication repairs as needed. Coordinate annual DOT inspections and maintain compliance documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and equipment yard. Order and manage parts, tools, and shop inventory. Track equipment utilization, maintenance intervals, and repair history. Coordinate transportation of equipment, materials, and vehicles between job sites, vendors, and the shop. Coordinate equipment rentals including scheduling, delivery, return, inspections, and vendor relationships. Recommend equipment replacement, repair strategies, and fleet improvements. Train and mentor shop personnel as assigned. Maintain OSHA, DOT, and company safety compliance. Some travel can be expected. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 5+ years of diesel/gasoline mechanical experience. Experience with heavy construction equipment and commercial vehicles. Valid driver's license and clean driving required; CDL preferred or ability to obtain CDL within reasonable timeframe. ASE, diesel certifications, DOT inspection certification, and welding experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities. Knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, electrical systems, and fleet maintenance. Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects. Physical Requirements Lift up to 75 pounds. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather. Operate heavy equipment, forklifts, lifts, and shop equipment. Occasional overtime and weekends. Performance Expectations High equipment uptime. Successful DOT compliance.
