JOB GOAL
To maintain school buildings, grounds, machinery, equipment and furniture in a good operating condition, and to provide a safe, clean and neat environment for the educational process.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet with the Building Foreman on a regular basis to establish priority order for cleaning and minor maintenance matters. Tour building on a regular basis to examine cleaning and minor maintenance projects assigned by the foreman to be certain the work is satisfactory and schedule correction for work which is not satisfactory. Assist the Building Foreman to develop the annual budget needed for cleaning and minor maintenance. Arrange and perform preventative maintenance, in conjunction with the maintenance staff, as directed by the supervisor. Maintain and provide supervisor with accurate payroll information in a timely manner. Assist supervisor with the employment of cleaning and minor maintenance personnel and submit periodic evaluation of all assigned personnel to the supervisor. Attend to major emergency problems promptly, including holidays and weekends when required by the supervisor. Train cleaning personnel and those performing minor maintenance tasks. Remain available for snow removal and other school emergencies. Participate in cleaning and maintenance projects. Check periodically safety devices such as fire and smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, exit lights, emergency lights, panic hardware, intrusion alarm detectors. Supervise periodic floor maintenance. Maintain furniture and equipment in good repair. Supervise prompt removal of graffiti from walls, floors, ceilings, furniture and equipment. Assist in the selection of materials and supplies used in cleaning and minor maintenance of the building. Observe inventory of cleaning and minor maintenance materials, supplies and equipment and reports shortages to the supervisor. Supervise the summer and recess period cleaning program and schedule. Assist and supervise outside use of school facilities in accordance with instructions from the supervisor and principal. Supervise and participate in replacement of lighting tubes and bulbs. Assume supervision of plant and grounds on days and evenings when football and other athletic contests are played at the home facility. Compensatory time during the same week shall be granted for any hours devoted to this task on a regular work holiday. Refuse unacceptable or damaged shipments. Lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. overhead and pick up objects weighing up to 50lbs. Perform other duties and tasks assigned by the Building Foreman or administration.
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT
July 1 to June 30; renewable each school year by formal action of the Board of Education; 40 hours
EVALUATION
To be performed by the Building Foreman and/or Building Administration. Salary based on experience and the District salary guide: $52,240
