From our humble beginnings in 1935 to creating terminals in the Northeast and Texas regions, we are dedicated to growing steadily while always keeping our family business outlook We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Maintenance to oversee our maintenance operations for our growing transportation company based in the northeast and gulf retions. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a solid background in liquid bulk maintenance, and the ability to manage a diverse team effectively in a growing environment. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our maintenance vendors and driver fleet through proactive maintenance strategies and effective budget management. Responsibilities Outlined below are the key responsibilities of the Director of Maintenance role, with potential for future expansion.
  • Fleeting maintenance oversight
  • full responsibility for the mechanical readiness of tractors, trailers, pumps, compressors, valves and safety systems per DOT regulations and company standards
  • Field travel and site visits
  • regular travel to terminals, tank wash facilities, customer sites, repair vendors, etc. to support their operations and conduct facility audits while maintaining relationships at these sites
  • Equipment inspections
  • conduct scheduled and random inspections to check on tractor compliance, driver education and safety standards
  • Budgeting and cost control
  • develop and maintain operating budgets for fleet maintenance, shop equipment, parts inventory and vendor contracts. Use data to optimize budgets and lifecycle of equipment
  • Vendor and shop management
  • oversee internal shops for budgeting, employee morale, and overall safety of the facilities
  • Audit & compliance
  • audit maintenance records, PM & HM schedules, repair quality, vendor performance, and regulatory documents. Ensure readiness for DOT audits, customer safety reviews and government checks.
  • Maintenance strategy and planning
  • ensure uptime goals are met by designing maintenance programs, tank testing schedules, and long-term asset replacement plans.
The ideal candidate must possess:
Experience Independent leadership skills for an expanding liquid bulk transportation company Willingness to travel to company terminals, maintenance facilities, and customer sites primarily in TX, NJ and IL Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and hazardous materials regulations Budgeting and cost controls using various office systems Strategic thinking and strong communication skills throughout company employees and outside support systems
