Work Control Planner 1/2

What You Will Do This position will be filled at either the Work Control Planner 1/2, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. Work Control is a multidisciplinary group, providing deployed support to all Facility Operations Directorates (FODs) for maintenance planning, scheduling, and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) support. The MSS-Work Control group uses Integrated Work Management to plan, schedule, and perform work in a safe and secure manner. You will be responsible to the a deployed Work Control Team Lead for developing and/or reviewing work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and post maintenance testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, construction or modification of work activities within a given facility or area. Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures and may also include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure. Work Control Planner 1 ($66,100 - $103,600) The successful candidate will: Assure safety and security compliance, maintain required safety and security training, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. Assist in preparing, reviewing, and issuing equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. Understand the process for preparation of detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates and development of step-by-step instructions for work. Understand the process for preparing and/or reviews efficient and specific instructions for the isolation, containment or de-energizing various mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations. Assist with various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training. Adhere to industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to work control and planning. Ensure all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements. Work Control Planner 2 ($80,400 - $127,900) In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level this position will also: Analyze time and material requirements for work activity. Track and expedite established priority of work packages. Evaluate processes, programs and procedures for potential improvements.

What You Need Minimum Job Requirements:

Knowledge & Expertise:

Knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance. Ability to understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.

Communication/Teamwork:

Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting work control and planning. Skill in the preparation and presentation of reports.

Planning & Prioritization:

Skill to conceptualize and communicate elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Business Systems:

Ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work planning activities. Additional Job Requirements for Work Control Planner 2: In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the Work Control Planner 2 level requires:

Knowledge & Expertise:

Ability to fully understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.

Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.

Planning & Prioritization:

Working knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning. Full understanding of work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures. Education/Experience at Work Control Planner 1 level: Position requires 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Education/Experience at Work Control Planner 2 level: Position requires an Associate's Degree and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Climbing ladders.

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of the Laboratory's infrastructure and site planning policies, practices, and procedures. Familiar with and or having the understanding of facility support equipment, such as HVAC systems, Compressors, Boilers, and Electrical Distribution systems. Knowledgeable in tracking work activities from conception through completion, preferably in construction management and or facility management industries. Active "Q" clearance.

Work Location:

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment:

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Q (Position will be cleared to this level).
