JOB SUMMARY
The Work Control Planner 4 serves as a Control Team Lead responsible for developing and reviewing complex work packages to support operations, maintenance, construction, and modification activities. The role provides technical leadership in work control planning, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable requirements within facility operations.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The Work Control Planner 4 develops and reviews detailed work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, as well as step-by-step work instructions, procedures, safety requirements, and post-maintenance testing documentation. The role supports implementation and control of work activities across mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiological systems within complex facility environments. The position is responsible for resolving work restraints, coordinating package development through approval, and bringing work packages to final closure. The role includes monitoring and validating the accuracy of planning activities, auditing performance data, and maintaining reports and statistical information to support performance tracking and decision-making. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and utilizing databases and computerized work management systems to support planning activities and performance measurement. The role evaluates existing processes, programs, and procedures, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the development and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures. The Work Control Planner 4 also provides mentorship and training to less experienced personnel, ensuring adherence to work control processes, safety protocols, and operational standards. The role requires coordination with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support efficient and compliant execution of maintenance and project activities.
WORK HOURS A
standard 40-hour work week is expected. Additional schedule requirements may be provided by the client.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience High School Diploma required in accordance with DOE Order 426.2 Experience / Skills 15 years of relevant experience in work control, maintenance planning, or related field Extensive experience interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documents Strong knowledge of safety practices, work hazards, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and operating configurations in complex facilities Experience with work control, materials management, and mechanical maintenance activities Demonstrated ability to research, evaluate alternatives, and resolve complex planning issues Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel Experience mentoring and training work control personnel Proficiency using computerized work management systems and reporting tools
PREFERRED / DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with laboratory work control and facility policies and procedures Experience in nuclear facility maintenance or construction planning Active DOE Q clearance
OTHER DETAILS
Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires the ability to perform essential job functions, including climbing fixed ladders. This position supports facility operations in a highly regulated environment and requires adherence to all applicable safety, security, and compliance requirements. Assigned duties may vary based on operational needs.
