Job Description
Supervisory Responsibility Directly supervises a team of three (3) engineering/maintenance staff. Essential Functions Maintain complete knowledge of departmental policies, service procedures/standards, hotel facilities and functions, and correct use of equipment; follow our Core Values and maintain positive guest relations with internal and external customers. Install, maintain, repair, and operate hotel machinery, equipment, and related systems; perform general repairs across disciplines including carpentry, mechanical, painting, plumbing, electrical, and finish work. Supervise and assist with installation and construction work; maintain the entire building and grounds, including landscape maintenance, and confer with landscape consultants on hotel beautification. Prepare and adjust weekly staff schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts; ensure staff report as scheduled, document absences, coordinate breaks, assign duties, and provide training. Prioritize and manage work orders — balancing urgent requests with scheduled hotel-area down time to minimize guest inconvenience — and ensure timely, accurate completion of projects. Inspect, plan, and maintain readiness of materials, equipment, and inventory; ensure security, cleanliness, and preventive maintenance/repair of engineering tools and safety features within budget. Evaluate engineering leases, contracts, and bids; submit requisitions, purchase orders, and recommendations to the General Manager for approval; update and maintain engineering policies and procedures. Develop and implement cost reduction, work simplification, and process improvement programs; effectively interact with department heads across the hotel. Ensure compliance with hotel and government safety/regulatory requirements, including OSHA and ADA guidelines; participate on the Hotel's Emergency Evacuation Team and respond to guest/employee accidents, injuries, and emergencies. Submit weekly progress reports and recommendations to the General Manager; promote sanitation, safety, and security efforts; follow hotel policy on lost/stolen items; perform other duties as requested by the General Manager. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent Five to ten years hands-on experience working on electrical, painting, plumbing, A/C, refrigeration repairs Five years of experience in building and hotel maintenance preferred Vast knowledge of repairing/replacing plumbing systems, HVAC equipment, refrigeration and kitchen equipment Knowledge of swimming pool maintenance and chemicals Experience working safely with heavy machinery and tools Exceptional guest-focus and technical skills Supervisory experience in engineering and/or maintenance Ability to build morale and spirit
