Job Description
Service Manager - Hocking Valley Motors Hocking Valley Motors is looking for a driven, organized, and hands-on Service Manager to lead our service operation and help take the department to the next level. Our shop currently handles a strong volume of used-vehicle reconditioning and internal work , and we are looking for a leader who can manage that operation efficiently while also building and growing our customer-pay service business . This is an opportunity for a Service Manager who understands shop operations, knows how to lead people, and wants to have a direct impact on the growth and profitability of the department. What You'll Do Lead the day-to-day operation of the service department Manage a used-vehicle reconditioning and internal repair operation Ensure used vehicles move through the shop quickly without sacrificing repair quality Develop and grow customer-pay service and repair business Build processes that improve customer retention and repeat service visits Coach advisors on maintenance recommendations, repair presentations, follow-up, and customer communication Schedule and dispatch work to maximize technician productivity and shop capacity Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and hours produced Manage workflow and eliminate bottlenecks that slow down vehicle completion Work closely with sales, parts, and dealership leadership to meet vehicle delivery expectations Review estimates and repair orders for accuracy, proper pricing, and profitability Maintain strong labor gross profit and control unnecessary discounting Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally Recruit, train, coach, and retain technicians and service personnel Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and accountable shop environment Track department KPIs and take action when performance falls below expectations What We're Looking For Previous dealership experience as a Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, Service Advisor, or similar automotive leadership role Strong understanding of automotive repair and dealership service operations Experience managing technicians, workflow, and repair-order processes A growth mindset with the ability to build customer-pay service business Strong leadership skills and the ability to hold a team accountable Excellent customer service and communication skills Understanding of labor sales, gross profit, productivity, efficiency, and other service department KPIs Ability to balance internal/reconditioning volume with retail customer demand Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities Professional, dependable, and accountable Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record What Success Looks Like The right Service Manager will help us: Maintain fast and consistent used-vehicle reconditioning Increase technician productivity and shop output Grow customer-pay repair and maintenance sales Build a larger base of repeat service customers Improve customer retention and satisfaction Develop a strong, accountable service team Increase overall service department gross profit and profitability Why Join Hocking Valley Motors?
