Job Description

Maintenance Manager Job Description The Maintenance Manager leads a team of maintenance professionals to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production equipment, facility systems, and grounds. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic planning, vendor management, and compliance oversight to support a high-volume manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Manager plans and executes preventive maintenance, manages capital and renovation projects, and drives continuous improvement across all maintenance functions. Responsibilities Provide daily supervision, direction, and support to a team of approximately 11 maintenance personnel, including millwrights and electricians. Oversee and manage outside contractors performing facility, grounds, machine, and systems maintenance, including security systems, fire alarms, fire suppression systems, hydrants, sprinklers, backflow devices, eyewash stations, and emergency lighting. Obtain and evaluate quotes from external vendors for maintenance services, repairs, and projects. Purchase replacement machine parts, maintenance supplies, and facility operating materials, ensuring cost-effective and timely procurement. Plan, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance for all machines and facility systems, ensuring timely completion and accurate tracking of work orders. Coordinate routine inspections and emergency repairs with external vendors in accordance with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements. Ensure all equipment and machinery comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards, including OSHA requirements. Compile, maintain, and organize reports for fire systems, gas usage, and sewer usage, partnering with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) to ensure audit-ready documentation. Manage contracts for snow removal, lawn care, and lift truck preventive maintenance, ensuring service quality and adherence to schedules. Estimate labor and material costs for equipment repairs, rebuilds, and replacements, supporting budgeting and capital planning. Oversee building renovations, refurbishments, and capital projects from planning through completion. Perform hands-on maintenance work as needed to support the team and address urgent issues. Ensure full compliance with IATF and internal quality and process requirements, including document control and adherence to 5S standards across all maintenance activities. Verify that all tasks, including Hot Work, Confined Space, and other high-risk activities, are performed in alignment with safety, environmental, quality, and compliance standards. Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and promote a strong safety culture within the maintenance team. Promote continuous improvement by coaching team members, supporting employee development, and encouraging team involvement in problem-solving and process enhancements. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and county regulations and environmental standards. Participate in safety meetings and internal and external audits, providing maintenance-related input and follow-up on corrective actions. Schedule work assignments, approve time and attendance, and complete 90-day and annual performance reviews for maintenance personnel. Lead the onboarding and integration of new maintenance team members, ensuring they receive appropriate training and support. Essential Skills 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Prior hands-on experience in millwright, electrician, or industrial maintenance trades. Strong understanding of hydraulics and pneumatic systems and their application in industrial machinery. Proven experience working with and managing outside vendors and contractors. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications for reporting, scheduling, and communication. Experience working with ERP systems to manage maintenance activities, purchasing, and documentation. Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop maintenance personnel in a production setting. Strong commitment to safety, including familiarity with LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, and other high-risk activity controls. Ability to plan and execute preventive maintenance programs and track work orders effectively. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects. Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Medina, OH.
