THE POSITION
Join the Department of Corrections as a Corrections Maintenance Foreman and help keep the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Chester running smoothly every day! This role allows you to guide inmate work crews while developing your own skills in many hands-on maintenance areas. You will play a key part in ensuring safe, clean, and well-maintained facility operations. Bring your leadership and practical know-how to a team that values hard work and service!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the daily operation of SCI Chester by supervising inmate work crews and performing a range of maintenance and repair tasks. It plays a key role in ensuring upkeep and safety of our facilities. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will perform the following duties:
Crew Supervision:
Direct inmate work crews in completing maintenance, construction, lawn care, snow removal, and janitorial tasks
Work Planning:
Plan daily schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed work for quality
Equipment Instruction:
Teach the safe use and basic care of machinery, tools, and vehicles
Order and Discipline:
Maintain structure, safety, and proper conduct during work activities
Trade Assistance:
Perform or assist with carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, welding, or other skilled trade work
Tool Control:
Issue, track, and account for materials and tools which will include conducting searches of inmates and work areas Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday
  • Friday.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
