Schedule:
- 6am-12pm/2pm No nights, weekends on occasion, holidays flexible, and on-call emergencies Job Summary Main requirement: HVAC experience is a must.
- Janitorial & Cleanliness (Daily Execution)
- Perform deep cleaning of all front-of-house and back-of-house areas (dining room, bar, kitchens, restrooms, offices, storage, walk-ins, exterior patios, dumpsters).
- Maintain floors (sweeping, mopping, stripping/waxing, carpet cleaning).
- Clean and sanitize all restrooms multiple times per shift; restock supplies.
- Empty trash/recycling, clean dumpsters and surrounding areas.
- Clean windows, mirrors, light fixtures, vents, and hood systems.
- Ensure pest control standards are met (interior/exterior bait stations, sealing entry points).
- Maintenance & Repair (Preventive & Corrective)
- Conduct daily inspections of the entire facility and create prioritized repair lists.
- Perform minor plumbing (unclog drains, replace faucets, toilets, seals, grease traps).
- Perform minor electrical (replace ballasts, outlets, switches, light bulbs, GFCI testing).
- Repair or replace doors, locks, hinges, drywall, tile, paint touch-ups.
- Maintain all kitchen equipment (daily cleaning of fryers, grills, ovens; schedule professional servicing; minor repairs).
- Service refrigeration (clean coils, check door gaskets, monitor temperatures, schedule technician calls).
- Maintain HVAC systems (change filters monthly, clean drains, coordinate seasonal service).
- Oversee grease trap pumping, hood cleaning, fire suppression, and all third-party vendor schedules.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, light bulbs, paint, and basic repair parts.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local health department, fire code, OSHA, and liquor license requirements.
- Maintain accurate logs for refrigeration temperatures, sanitation, pest control, fire extinguishers, and hood/suppression systems.
- Respond immediately to any safety hazards (slips, spills, broken glass, equipment malfunctions).
- Conduct monthly safety walkthroughs and train staff on basic cleaning/safety protocols.
- Leadership & Administration
- Supervise and schedule any assistant janitors or porters (if applicable).
- Create and update preventive maintenance calendars.
- Obtain competitive bids for major repairs and manage vendor relationships.
- Keep detailed records of all repairs, parts used, and service contracts.
- Stay within annual maintenance budget. Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of commercial maintenance/janitorial experience (restaurant or hospitality strongly preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC basics.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs independently.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (for occasional parts runs or off-site emergencies).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand for extended periods.
- Flexible availability
- must be on call 24/7 for emergencies (floods, refrigeration failure, etc.).
- Basic computer skills (email, Google Sheets/Excel for logs and ordering).
- Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing a strong plus. Preferred Traits
