Negotiable DOE Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Building & Grounds Supervisor to oversee operations in our high-volume chicken processing plant. This position is critical to ensuring the reliability, safety, cleanliness and efficiency of all equipment, facilities, and grounds. The ideal candidate will have a strong background building & grounds maintenance in a fast-paced, food-grade environment.
Experience :
Minimum 2-3 years in maintenance or related field, with hands-on experience in multiple trades
Skills :
Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, painting, roofing, landscaping, and small engine repair
Licenses :
Valid driver's license for required equipment Reporting Structure Typically reports to Plant Manager In summary , this role blends technical maintenance expertise with leadership and coordination skills to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and aesthetically maintained, supporting the organization's operational and educational goals.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership experience in a food processing or poultry/meat plant. Strong knowledge of food industry regulations (USDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA). Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems (RETA certification a plus). Proven experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Working knowledge of PLCs and automation controls.
Skills:
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance software systems. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and follow direction. Professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a cold, wet, and noisy environment. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
