The Woodyard Superintendent is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership for the woodyard employees to improve safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost control, and production for the department. They are responsible for implementing and maintaining management systems to ensure continued improvement to overall process areas as well as fostering and developing partnerships with adjoining production areas to execute an aligned mill strategy. The Woodyard Superintendent reports to the Pulp Mill Superintendent of the Mill. How you will impact
Smurfit Westrock:
Supports and fosters safety and environmental compliance. Improves efficiency of the Woodyard operation by analyzing the processes utilizing all available resources. Manages production rates and inventories to meet our customers' needs. Exceeds and continuously improves on our downtime goals. Troubleshoots quality and operational issues and develops systems and structures to avoid reoccurrences. Manages internal product quality and looks for ways to reduce variability. Tracks and manages area operating budget. Plans and executes maintenance outages on time and on budget. Submits capital projects that support area operations and reduce operating costs. Develops area employees through observation, coaching, and training.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or related experience. Minimum of 2 years related experience within the paperboard industry pulping operations. Supervisory or management experience required.
