Job Description

Position Summary The Onsite Maintenance Manager is a critical manufacturing leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive maintenance strategy across a metal manufacturing facility. This position goes beyond traditional maintenance oversight and requires a leader who can effectively balance reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance practices while building a high-performing, accountable maintenance team. This role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment, systems, and infrastructure to support production goals. The Maintenance Manager will lead continuous improvement initiatives, drive uptime and throughput, and foster a culture of ownership, discipline, and technical excellence within the maintenance organization. $95,000 - $125,000 salary - pay based on job experience, skills and history. Key Responsibilities Provide strong leadership and direction to Maintenance, Machine Shop, and MRO teams, building a skilled, engaged, and performance-driven maintenance organization within a metal manufacturing environment. Develop and execute a balanced maintenance strategy that includes: Reactive maintenance for rapid response and issue resolution Preventive maintenance (PM) programs to reduce equipment failure Predictive maintenance (PdM) using data, trends, and condition monitoring to anticipate issues before they occur Drive a proactive reliability culture focused on minimizing downtime, optimizing asset life, and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Partner closely with Manufacturing and Finishing leadership to ensure alignment on production priorities, uptime expectations, and continuous flow of operations. Lead root cause analysis efforts for equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions. Establish and maintain maintenance KPIs (downtime, response time, PM compliance, MTBF, etc.) and drive continuous improvement based on results. Own and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost control while supporting capital improvements and operational needs. Design, engineer, and implement equipment upgrades and process improvements, working closely with Engineering on new equipment installations and automation initiatives. Plan and execute facility and equipment modifications, including layout changes, capital projects, and infrastructure upgrades. Oversee plant safety related to equipment and facility compliance, including TOSHA requirements, and serve as a leader in lockout/tagout and safe work practices . Ensure maintenance activities are conducted safely and that the team actively promotes a strong safety culture. Lead preventive maintenance scheduling and ensure execution discipline across all production assets, utilities, and facility systems. Implement predictive maintenance tools and techniques (vibration analysis, inspections, condition monitoring, etc.) to enhance reliability.
Develop the maintenance team by:
Coaching and mentoring technicians Building technical capability and cross-training Driving accountability and performance standards Creating a culture of urgency, ownership, and continuous improvement Oversee facility operations including building systems, security, utilities, and space utilization. Reporting Structure This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and works in close partnership with Engineering, Operations, and Human Resources. Qualifications & Experience Trade School certification or Bachelor's degree (Engineering or related field preferred) 8-10 years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a metal manufacturing or industrial environment Demonstrated success building and leading maintenance teams Strong experience with preventive and predictive maintenance systems and reliability programs Experience with capital projects, equipment installation, and process improvements General Requirements Hands-on, detail-oriented leader with strong problem-solving skills Ability to travel to other facilities as needed Fluent in English Working Conditions & Equipment Combination of office and manufacturing plant environment Use of computer systems, communication tools, and required
PPE Pay:
