Job Description:
84 Lumber is looking for a Maintenance Team Leader to join our team! Ideal candidates should have several years of industrial mechanical and electrical experience and be a self-starter that can lead a small team. This position will have a mix of experienced and apprentice level maintenance personnel reporting to them and will have a regional supervisor that helps as well; this is a great opportunity for those looking to expand their leadership skills and take ownership of a maintenance program! Applicants should:
Be familiar with, and adhere to, LOTO programs. Safety is our #1 priority. Have great attendance and reliable transportation. Not take shortcuts. We are heavily focused on proper repairs instead of band-aid fixes. Have good communication with management via phone, text, and email. Be comfortable using computers to complete work orders, read parts manuals, use email, etc. Be able to lift and move 50 lbs. Be able to operate a forklift and be willing to operate a boom or scissor lift (training provided). Be comfortable working indoors and outdoors (primarily indoors). Work autonomously - complete work via a digital work order system, repair machines, complete PMs, manage and maintain the maintenance shop, get quotes for parts, etc. without major input from others.
Skills required for success:
The ability to lead a team and coach technicians. Assign work orders via a CMMS system, schedule repairs, order parts, call contractors, etc. - it is your job to ensure the department runs smoothly in all facets and report on department metrics. Machine maintenance and repair ability such as: daily/weekly/monthly PM completion, greasing and replacing bearings, replacing cylinders, tensioning and repairing belts and chains, air hose repair, pneumatic component adjustments, saw blade replacements, etc.
Electrical knowledge:
should be comfortable using a multimeter to check voltage and test fuses. Should be able to troubleshoot blown fuses, replace low-voltage sensors, and rewire 3-phase motors, for example. Should be able to identify and troubleshoot basic electrical components such as fuses, breakers, relays, VFDs, etc. Understanding basic automation such as home sensors, position sensors, etc. is a plus. Have moderate fabrication and welding ability (MIG welding, drill press, Oxy-Acetylene torch, etc) Familiarity with torque wrenches and torque specs. Cleanliness and organization skills are very important. The technician should take ownership over the shop cleanliness, tools and spare parts organization, etc. We offer training for missing/lacking skills, but the ideal candidate should be a strong leader and have the ability to maintain and repair our equipment without needing basic training.
