Description Job SummaryJ Plans and supervises maintenance operation procedures of food equipment. Supervises central warehouse deliveries to all schools. Job Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional training beyond high school in trade schools and 4 years as a journeyman is required. Minimum of seven years is preferred in these trades. Three years experience as an HVAC technician is required. Texas Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors License, type A and Refrigerant Recovery License is required. Requires valid Texas Drivers License Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Develops, assigns, supervises and inspects the work of the refrigeration and electrical personnel Establishes an efficient and effective system of routine electrical and refrigeration maintenance and preventive care Assigns work orders and verifies completion of work by craftsmen Checks all work orders for accuracy in recording, labor, material costs and files Maintains personnel and other records as required Advises director on hiring of contractors to perform maintenance or repair services Reviews drawings and plans for construction and renovation projects Consults and communicates with contractors and provides follow-up inspections of work completed by outside contractors Recruits, screens and recommends hiring and training for craft employees Promotes high standards of safety in all work related assignments Responsible for answering and responding to after-hour calls concerning refrigeration emergencies/issues Communicate effectively and maintain a positive, respectful rapport with kitchen staff/contractors Responsible for Vehicle and Driving Safety Completion of District Safe School Program Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skills in supervision requiring communication that will be effective with not only employees, but with administration, general public and the business community. Knowledge of all phases of electrical, refrigeration and boiler systems. Also requires knowledge of district policies and procedures. Ability to supervise subordinates in a fair and efficient manner. Ability to manage other trades such as carpentry, plumbing and others when necessary. Ability to read and perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to deal with all people in a courteous manner. Ability to multitask. Ability to use a computer, telephone, copier and electrical meters.

Tools/Equipment Used:
Personal computer and peripherals; standard kitchen equipment, hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, testing tools, cutting tools, and ladders.
Posture:
Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
Motion:
Walking, standing, climbs, crawls, kneels, squats, bends, twists and crouches on a daily basis.
Lifting:
Regular lifting and carrying 35 pounds (up to 60 pounds).
Environment:
Location of job is a school kitchen, shop, warehouse, outdoors, on roofs and vehicle. Is frequently exposed to noise, vibration, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, wetness/humidity, dampness, heat, cold, darkness or poor lighting, slippery or uneven walking surfaces and extreme temperatures. Is frequently exposed to machinery, mechanical, chemical, electrical and fire/slip hazards.
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; work prolonged or irregular hours. Flexibility in work assignments and accept change in duties and any other work assignments as needed.
